Job description

Overview

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You\'ll be the main person helping nonprofits and political campaigns raise money, get grants, and make their big ideas happen. Think of yourself as part strategist and part problem-solver. You\'ll juggle multiple clients while helping them secure funding and run successful campaigns that actually matter.

Who We're Looking For

Someone who gets fired up about social justice, political change, or helping nonprofits thrive. You''ve got 2-5 years of experience (internships totally count!) and you\'re not afraid to dive into the messy, rewarding world of campaign work and fundraising.

Responsibilities
  • Managing Clients Like a Pro Keep 8-12 different projects running smoothly (yes, it\'s a lot, but you\'ve got this). Be the go-to person your clients can count on — their work bestie who actually gets stuff done. Build systems that don\'t suck and help everyone stay organized. Have real conversations with clients daily to ensure goals are met.
  • Writing Grants That Actually Win Money Research and write grant applications that foundations and government agencies want to fund. Turn boring program descriptions into compelling stories that make funders open their wallets. Track deadlines and collaborate with program staff to collect data and stories that make grants shine. Target: help bring in new funding per year.
  • Fundraising Events & Donor Relationships Plan fundraising events that people actually want to attend and donate at. Manage everything from small 50-person gatherings to big 500+ person galas. Help donors feel genuinely connected to the cause and track gifts to ensure appreciation. Goal: increase donor retention by 15%.
  • Keeping Everyone Legal & Compliant Handle paperwork that keeps nonprofits and campaigns out of trouble. Ensure timely reports and maintain detailed records for auditors.
  • Events & Field Work Support virtual webinars to in-person rallies and coordinate passionate volunteers. Adapt plans when needed to make things work.
Qualifications
  • Experience & Lifestyle Schedule & lifestyle: Mostly normal hours, but expect some evening and weekend events (4-6 per month). Willingness to travel occasionally around Manhattan + Outer Boroughs/NJ/Long Island for client meetings. Fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Education Bachelor\'s degree required (any field that taught you how to think and communicate). Must live in the NY/NJ area — this isn\'t a fully remote gig. Hybrid setup: work from home most of the time, meet with clients when needed.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Compensation $52K - $70K base (depends on experience and portfolio). A discretionary bonus if you crush your goals. 10% commission on new clients you bring in.
  • Benefits Full health coverage (medical). Discretionary vacation days + sick days.
Skills
  • Experience That Counts At least 1-2 years doing campaign work, nonprofit stuff, fundraising, or grant writing (internships count). Ability to handle multiple deadlines without getting overwhelmed. Strong writing skills to persuade donors. Comfortable talking to donors, board members, and volunteers.
  • Tech Skills That Matter Proficient with Google Workspace (Docs & Sheets) and Microsoft Office. Bonus points for experience with NGPVAN, ActBlue, CFB, Canva and/or other political/nonprofit tools. Quick learner with new platforms.
