The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Clery Compliance Coordinator is a campus leader of an established Clery program that has significant support from units across campus through institutionalized ownership of Clery functions. The Clery Compliance Coordinator is supported by an existing data collection and reconciliation working group with representatives from Title IX, Dean of Students, Carolina Behavioral Assessment and Management, Student Conduct, and Housing functions and that successfully operates to streamline crime statistics collection and classification. The Clery Compliance Coordinator also works closely with the Office of Human Resources, which has a process for designating Campus Security Authorities in the position creating and updating process and automating their training notifications. The Clery Compliance Coordinator enjoys a close working relationship with UNC Police and UNC Emergency Management and Planning, the units that share responsibility for our Alert Carolina system. Finally, the University meets its Clery obligations through a variety of prevention and response programs administered by Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services, the University Compliance Office, and the Office of the Dean of Students, as well as others. These offices regularly collaborate with the Clery Compliance Coordinator.
