Job summary

A public health organization in San Francisco is seeking a part-time Public Health Professional Worker to support the Vaccines for Children Program. Job description

This is a part-time limited position of approximately 17 hours per week. The work hours are flexible.

The Vaccines for Children Program (VFC), established by an act of Congress in 1993, is a federal funded program that helps families by providing no-cost vaccines to doctors who serve eligible children 0 through 18 years of age. The VFC program is administered at the state level by the Immunization Branch of the California Department of Public Health.

Under the direct supervision of the VFC Program Health Education Supervisor, the Public Health Professional Worker performs a variety of duties such as filing, telephone assistance, photocopying, scheduling, and general clerical support.

Required Qualifications
  • High school graduation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be detail-oriented able to work independently
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft software including Access and Excel
  • Basic knowledge of general/standard clerical functions (. e.g., filing, telephones, photocopying, scheduling, etc.)
  • Must have own adequate transportation, ability to provide a valid CA Driver's License, and proof of current automobile insurance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Quantitative and data management skills
  • Full-time or part-time student currently enrolled in a university program in the sciences, public health or another related field
  • Interest and coursework in public health or related scientific field
