MHS Homes is seeking a proactive Clearance/Grounds Operative for a 12 month FTC. The role focuses on caretaking across estates, keeping communal areas clean, safe, and well maintained for residents.

You will perform cleaning, grounds maintenance, waste management, and reporting of issues to ensure estates remain presentable and hazard-free. The role emphasizes teamwork and independent work to deliver high-quality service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain internal and external communal areas, keeping environments safe and welcoming.
• Clean communal spaces such as halls, stairs, landings, and lifts; manage litter and waste.
• Support basic grounds maintenance, waste services, and winter duties as needed.
• Assist with clearance of void properties and respond to environmental issues.
• Report problems like anti-social behaviour, vandalism, or dog fouling to the team.

Clearance/Grounds Operative (12 month FTC)

We are looking for a proactive and customer focused Clearance/Grounds Operative to join our team, with a strong emphasis on caretaking services across our estates.

This is a varied role where you will play a key part in keeping our communities clean, safe, and well maintained, delivering a high-quality service to our residents every day. While the role includes elements of grounds maintenance and waste services, it is rooted in caretaking excellence, ensuring communal areas are maintained to the highest standards.

What you’ll be doing

You will help maintain internal and external communal areas, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for residents. Your duties will include:

Caretaking and Cleaning

• Cleaning communal areas including halls, stairs, landings, and lifts


• Removing litter and waste from communal spaces


• Maintaining refuse areas, bin stores, and chute systems


• Checking and maintaining communal lighting

Grounds Maintenance

• Supporting basic grounds maintenance such as litter picking and vegetation control


• Assisting with winter services including snow clearance and gritting


• Supporting wider estate services teams where required


• Removing fly tipping and bulky waste from estates


• Supporting clearance of void properties and communal areas


• Reporting environmental issues such as anti-social behaviour, vandalism, and dog fouling


• Ensuring estates are clean, presentable, and free from hazards
