Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a Tool Engineer for the Detector Microfabrication Facility (DMF) to oversee operation, maintenance and repair of the DMF tool suite. You will ensure optimal performance of lithography, deposition, etch and metrology tools to support superconducting device fabrication.

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering or scientific discipline and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience stewarding microelectronics fabrication equipment including lithography, deposition and etch tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in a research-scale cleanroom and safety-conscious environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation, maintenance, and repair of fabrication and metrology tools.
  • Re-qualify tools after maintenance or hardware changes.
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions; perform root cause analysis.
  • Develop and implement calibration and qualification protocols; document records.
  • Improve hardware capability and reliability while ensuring safety and quality.
