Job summary

Block by Block is seeking a friendly Cleaning Ambassador for a part-time outdoor role. You will patrol assigned zones, perform litter removal, curb weed pulling, wipe surfaces, and greet pedestrians to provide directions and city information. Weekend availability is required.

The position offers weekly pay, pay advances, and a variety of benefits. A valid driver’s license is required, you must be at least 18, and you should be able to work eight-hour shifts outdoors in all weather with breaks;

Qualifications

• Experience preferred, but not required; training provided.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to walk or traverse for an eight-hour shift with breaks.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions and speak/read/write English to prepare basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform street-level cleaning and litter removal in the assigned zone.
• Greet pedestrians and provide directions or city information.
• Remove litter, weeds, and graffiti from public spaces.
• Dampen wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces and fixtures.
• Monitor for safety issues and report to Safety Ambassadors; complete basic reports in English.

Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Pay Range: $12.00 to $14.00 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Payday!)

What You'll Be Doing

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the zone assigned. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.
• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Experience preferred, but not required. We will train.
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
