Job description

Nuts.com is a self-funded, profitable, rapidly growing multi-channel DTC specialty food and wellness company with over 550 people on our team. We're changing the landscape of snacking on nuts, dried fruit, chocolate and more! We planted our roots in Newark, New Jersey during the Great Depression, selling premium nuts on Mulberry Street's open-air market. We've come quite a long way since then, taking our multi-generational family business online in 1999. Even after 96 years, we continue to pride ourselves in expertly sourcing the highest quality foods and treating our customers like family.

What's our team like? We're driven, collaborative and entrepreneurial. Energy and passion power our business and we look for candidates who share in that excitement to help us continue to build something special.

The role:

The Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining the general cleanliness and hygiene of the facility’s infrastructure and common areas. This role focuses on janitorial duties, housekeeping, and deep cleaning of the facility structure (floors, walls, drains, ceilings) to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for all employees.

You will execute tasks outlined in the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) to ensure the facility remains compliant with food safety standards and audit requirements.

How you’ll make an impact

Janitorial & Housekeeping: Perform daily cleaning of restrooms, breakrooms, locker rooms, offices, and throughout all warehouse areas (building interior & exterior) and common hallways. This includes sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning & sanitizing.

Floor Care: Operate walk-behind floor scrubbers and industrial vacuums to maintain clean manufacturing and warehouse floors.

Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS): Execute deep-cleaning tasks on a scheduled basis, including washing walls, ceilings, overhead pipes, vents, and drains to prevent dust and grime buildup.

Incident Management: Immediately attend to any incidents requiring cleaning & sanitation team support and actively participate in remediation efforts.

Waste Management: Empty trash bins and recycling containers throughout the facility and ensure waste is disposed of in the correct compactors or dumpsters.

Supply Management: Monitor and restock uniforms, PPE, restroom and breakroom supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper), and cleaning chemical supplies/stations.

Spill Response: Respond promptly to spills in production & non-production areas to prevent food safety risks as well as slip-and-fall hazards.

Compliance: Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety protocols (SOPs) while working in a food production environment.

Schedule Flexibility: Must be flexible to work different shifts. Working schedule is subject to change based on business needs.

What you’ll bring:
  • Required:
  • Experience: Previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning roles (preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse setting).
  • Equipment Knowledge: Experience operating floor scrubbers, vacuums, and using standard mopping systems.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to reach overhead to clean walls and ceilings.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly Preferred:

What we offer:

  • A high-growth and rewarding role in a foundationally strong and rapidly evolving business
  • Hourly Pay: $17.25 an hour
  • Excellent benefits including a 401K Match
  • And all the Nuts.com snacks your heart desires + a 40% employee discount

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
