Job summary

Shenendehowa Central School District is seeking a Cleaner for Arongen/Shatekon Elementary Schools. This 8-hour/day, 12-month position runs Mon-Fri 3:00pm-11:00pm and offers step-based hourly pay from $23.59 to $25.53.

Responsibilities include cleaning bathrooms, floors, windows, and building interiors and exteriors; light repairs; equipment setup for events; and maintaining safe, welcoming spaces for students and staff. High school diploma or GED and good people skills required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED) and experience in building cleaning.
• Good working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to understand and carry out both verbal and written directions.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
• Exhibit thoroughness, good judgement, mental alertness, tact and courtesy.
• Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine building cleaning duties inside and exterior of the building.
• Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, dusts and polishes chairs, tables, desks and other furniture; sweeps, mops, washes, waxes and vacuums floors.
• Paints interior and exterior of building; keeps sidewalks clean in summer, leaf removal in fall and ice and snow removal in winter; handles supplies and equipment for events.
• Washes windows, walls and woodwork; replaces light bulbs; minor repairs; operates floor machinery and snow blowers as needed.
• Demonstrates excellent people skills and maintains good working relationships with students, staff and administration.

Job Responsibilities

Performs routine building cleaning duties of both the interior and exterior of the building. These cleaning duties include: cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms; dusting and polishing chairs, tables, desks and other furniture; sweeping, mopping, washing, waxing and vacuuming floors; painting interior and exterior of building; keeping sidewalks clean in summer, leaf removal in fall and ice and snow removal in winter; receives, moving and storing supplies for building occupants; arranging chairs, tables and other equipment for special use of the building; washing windows, both interior and exterior, walls and woodwork; replacing light bulbs, making minor repairs, operation of floor machinery, snow blowers and other duties, as needed. This person should also possess excellent people skills.
