Job summary

Sylvania seeks a classroom tutor to provide academic development support to students in small groups or one-on-one settings and to assist classroom teachers with strategies for working with disadvantaged students to meet the district's curriculum goals.

Qualifications

• Must meet at least one of the three qualifications listed.
• High school diploma or equivalent with ability to pass ParaProfessional Assessment within four months of hire.
• Associate's degree or higher or completion of two years of higher education (48 credits) or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining records and implementing plans.
• Knowledge of high school level math, reading, English, social studies and science.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication in English.
• Ability to relate to and work with students and adults and to work as part of a team.

Job Summary:

The classroom tutor provides academic development support to students in small groups or one-on-one settings and provides support to classroom teachers on issues and strategies in working with disadvantaged children to meet the goals of the district's curriculum and the students' needs.

New Hire Hourly rate

Grade 6: $21.60 - $24.14 DOE

Internal Hourly Rate

Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement

Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):

1. Must meet at least one of the following three qualifications:
2. • A high school diploma, or equivalent, and have completed the ParaProfessional Assessment, or have the ability to pass the ParaProfessional Assessment within four (4) months of hire; or
   • An associate's degree or higher; or
   • Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or the equivalent
3. Work experience demonstrating an ability to maintain accurate records and implement plans.
4. Knowledge of high school level math, reading, English, social studies, and science.
5. Proven proficiency in oral and written communication skills in English.
6. Ability to relate and work successfully with students and adults and ability to work as a team in developing and delivering academic programs for students.
