Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' CMV driving experience.
  • 1–3 years transportation & safety experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety rules and regulations.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • TSI – Instructors Course for Transit Trainers.
  • Supervisory experience with hourly employees; 2–3 years transit supervisory experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy with Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • DOT drug testing and physical requirements where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Report to Assistant General Manager (AGM).
  • Provide classroom and behind-the-wheel training to new drivers.
  • Maintain training documentation for compliance with state certification and policies.
  • Lead safety program activities and safety meetings.
  • Communicate job requirements to drivers.
  • Schedule, counsel, and submit evaluation reports to local management.
  • Conduct on-scene accident investigations and assist with reports.
  • Develop and host driver training and safety courses; retrain drivers involved in accidents.
  • Observe drivers on the road and document safety violations.
  • Liaison between drivers, customers, and organization on safety concerns.
  • Evaluate driver safety and performance per policy.
  • Assist Safety Manager with DOT/FTA compliance and recordkeeping.
  • Occasionally drive routes.

Transdev in Lancaster, California is hiring a Classroom Trainer to facilitate classroom and behind-the-wheel training to drivers. We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report to Assistant General Manager (AGM)
  • Provide classroom and behind-the-wheel training to new drivers
  • Maintain required training documentation and completion for compliance with state certification, company policies and district, state & federal requirements.
  • Additional safety program responsibilities such as, accident investigation, forms compliance, & safety meetings
  • Communicate job requirements and responsibilities to drivers.
  • Day to day scheduling, counseling, and submitting evaluation reports to local management.
  • Conduct on-the-scene accident investigations; assist drivers in preparing accident reports, OSHA reports and safety violations documents.
  • Develop and host driver training and safety courses; train new drivers and retrain drivers involved in accidents.
  • Observe drivers on the road - correct safety problems on the scene while documenting violations.
  • Liaison between drivers and both the customers and organization in customer service concerns
  • Evaluate and monitor driver safety and performance in compliance with legal, employment and labor policy matters.
  • Assist Safety Manager with DOT/FTA compliance - drug testing and recordkeeping.
  • Drive routes periodically.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years' experience driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV)
  • 1 to 3 years transportation & safety experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety rules and regulations.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • TSI – Instructors Course for Transit Trainers
  • Supervisory experience with hourly employees; 2-3 years transit supervisory experience preferred
  • Computer literate - basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
  • Assists Safety Manager with DOT/FTA compliance regarding drug testing and recordkeeping
  • Meets all driver qualifications at location
  • Assists in dispatching, driving, interviewing, and miscellaneous clerical tasks as needed
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
  • Work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors.
