Job summary

Havre Public Schools is seeking an instructional assistant to support certified staff in the classroom, help reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics and computer skills, and assist with assessments and materials.

You will supervise students during non-instructional activities, support inclusion for students with special needs, participate in IEP processes as needed, and help maintain a safe, orderly learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of college coursework or passing of examination as required under No Child Left Behind Act.
• Prior experience working with special needs students desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and replicate programs.
• Assist professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Prepare instructional materials and reinforce instructional content for individual needs.
• Assist with record-keeping documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavioral management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise students in non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with inclusion of students with disabilities and participate in IEP processes as needed.
• Follow safety rules and procedures governing assistance to students.
