Job summary

Haledon Public School is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support certified staff in meeting instructional goals. You will help students with reading, math, language arts, and computer activities, both individually and in small groups, under supervision.

The role requires assisting with tests, preparing instructional materials, and helping manage behavior to keep the classroom safe and productive. Experience with students with special needs is desirable.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of college coursework or passing of examination as required by federal or state standards.
• Prior experience working with students with special needs desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and guide them to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assist professional staff with administration and correction of tests and assessments.
• Prepare materials and support instructional strategies for diverse learner needs.
• Record-keeping to document student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, etc.) and accompany students on field trips.
• Distribute and use educational materials as needed; assist with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Support students with disabilities to maximize inclusion and participation in school activities.
