Job summary

ACHS - Chance for Change Academy in Alexandria, VA seeks an Instructional Assistant I to support teachers in small-group instruction, monitor student behavior, and assist with clerical tasks. This role starts immediately and offers hourly compensation based on experience.

Responsibilities include implementing instructional programs under supervision, supervising students across settings, and reporting progress to teachers and parents.

Qualifications

• Education: 48 college credits or an AA degree; able to demonstrate college-level skills in spelling, reading, writing and math via proficiency test.
• Experience: job-related experience required; bilingual preferred.
• Certificates & Licenses: None required; Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Administers first aid as required to provide immediate care.
• Assists children with disabilities on and off the bus.
• Assists students with breakfast, lunch, snack, clean-up and personal hygiene.
• Implements instructional programs and lesson plans under supervision.
• Monitors students to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Performs record-keeping and clerical tasks in support of staff.
• Provides feedback to inform teachers and parents about students' progress.
• Reports observations and incidents to instructional/administrative personnel.
• Performs other related duties to ensure efficient operations.
