Job summary

Broward County Public Schools seeks a paraprofessional to provide classroom supports that enhance instruction and supervise students under the teacher's guidance. This role includes assisting with materials, safety, and daily classroom operations.

You will assist with lunch, rest periods, and personal care in accordance with district policy, participate in ongoing training, and support behavioral plans. The work location is Cypress Run Education Center in Pompano Beach, FL.

Qualifications

• A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved GED testing program.
• The ability to interact and communicate effectively with children.
• Computer skills required as needed for the position.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in creating instructional materials.
• Supervise and escort students for safety and welfare as required.
• Provide classroom-related clerical support such as notes, folders, and data collection.
• Prepare instructional materials and teaching aids under direction of the teacher.
• Engage in general housekeeping to keep the classroom safe and clear of obstructions.
• Assist with lunchroom activities and dine with students as needed.
• Assist in supervising nap and rest periods as needed.
• Assist in providing care for children when the teacher is not present for up to 30 minutes.
• Construct and design items for tests and worksheets under teacher guidelines.
• Follow-up lessons presented by the teacher and guided activities.
• Supervise small group discussions and activities among students.
• Assist individual students as assigned by the teacher.
• Utilize programs with groups of students.
• Perform daily living activities (hygiene, mobility, feeding, adaptive equipment) as needed with PCM/SB policies.
