Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a standard high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with children.
• Computer skills required as needed for the position.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of a teacher in the creation of instructional materials.
• Supervise and escort students to ensure safety and welfare within the school.
• Provide classroom-related clerical support such as daily notes, student folders, and data collection.
• Prepare instructional materials and teaching aids under teacher direction.
• Engage in general housekeeping in the classroom to maintain safety.
• Assist with lunchroom activities and dine with students as needed.
• Assist in supervising nap and rest periods.
• Provide care for children when the teacher is not present for up to 30 minutes.
• Construct and design items for tests and worksheets per teacher guidelines.
• Follow-up on lessons presented by the teacher.
• Supervise small group discussions and activities among students.
• Assist individual students as assigned by the teacher.
• Utilize programs with groups of students.
• Perform daily living activities including assisting with hygiene and mobility as needed.
• Provide behavioral assistance including PBIP and PCM skills.
