Job summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking a classroom support aide to provide quality care and supervision to students within MIRAMAR ELEMENTARY. You will work under a teacher's supervision to assist with instructional materials and student activities, ensuring safety and smooth classroom operations.

The role includes preparing teaching aids, helping with lunch and rest periods, and supporting individual students as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with children.
• Computer skills required as needed for the position.
• Preferred: associate degree or 60 semester hours; bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating instructional materials under teacher guidance.
• Supervise and escort students to ensure safety and welfare.
• Provide classroom clerical support (notes, folders, data).
• Prepare teaching aids and instructional materials.
• Maintain a clean, safe classroom environment.
• Assist with lunchroom activities and supervise students.
• Support nap/rest periods as needed.
• Provide care for children when teacher absent for up to 30 minutes.
• Assist with tests and worksheets per teacher guidelines.
• Follow-up lessons and supervise small group activities.
• Assist individual students as assigned.
• Use appropriate programs with student groups.
• Assist with daily living activities and mobility as needed.
• Assist with feeding needs and adaptive equipment.
• Provide behavioral support and crisis management as needed.
