Job summary

Comanche Independent School District seeks a classroom aide to support certified staff and assist students with reading, math, language arts and computer instruction. You will help with classroom preparations, record-keeping, behavior management, field trips, and parent communication, with emphasis on inclusion of students with special needs.

You will work under supervision to help students achieve instructional goals and participate in the educational program across multiple settings.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• College coursework or passing NCLB requirements.
• Experience with special needs students desired.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with reading, language arts, math, and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist with administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments.
• Assist with classroom preparations and instructional materials.
• Maintain record-keeping to document student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavior management to keep a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise lunch, bus duty, playground, study halls, and related areas.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent communication to foster involvement.
• Support students with special needs to maximize inclusion.
• Participate in IEP processes as needed.
• Assist students with activities of daily living as required.
• Follow safety rules and procedures.
