Job summary

Comal Independent School District seeks a classroom paraeducator to assist teachers with instructional support, self-help, and behavior management. You will work under supervision to support students with disabilities and help prepare materials, maintain records, and supervise students during the day.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, mobility support, and helping with group activities and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate required.
• Two years of college coursework or an associate degree required or demonstrated ability to assist instruction.
• Ability to assist in reading, writing and math readiness as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, equipment care and maintenance.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities as needed (transfers, lifting, positioning).
• Support behavior management and intervene in crises as needed.
• Adhere to student confidentiality and district records policies.
• Participate in staff development and meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
