Job summary

Haledon Board of Education seeks a Teacher Assistant at Haledon Public School. Under the supervision of a certified staff member, you will support students with reading, language arts, and math, help implement programs, and assist with classroom preparation and record-keeping to track learning progress.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of college level coursework or equivalent.
• Experience working with students with special needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Reinforces reading, language arts, mathematics and computer instruction.
• Works with students individually and in small groups.
• Assists in administering and correcting classroom exercises and assessments.
• Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills.
• Maintains records documenting student progress.
• Supports classroom behavioral management to keep a safe and on-task environment.
• Supervises students in non-instructional areas and accompanies field trips.
• Assists with parent contact to promote involvement.
• Supports students with special needs and participates in IEP processes.
• Follows safety rules and assists students with disabilities.
