Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pass a State approved assessment (Workkeys, ParaPro, or Para Educator) or credential assessment test offered if needed.
• Job-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Operates and cares for equipment or instructional materials.
• Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual students.
• Guides independent study, enrichment and remedial work set by the teacher.
• Provides escort and assistance to the children as necessary.
• Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
• Assist teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
• Assist with supervision during play periods, field trips, assemblies or drills.
