Job summary

May Institute in Wilmington, MA is seeking a Classroom Counselor to support students aged 3-21 with Autism and developmental and cognitive disabilities. You will work in classroom settings using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methods to facilitate life and academic skill-building.

You will collect data, implement daily schedules, and collaborate with teachers, clinical staff, and families to support individualized treatment plans. A bachelor’s degree and driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or related field.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with at least 1 year of licensed driving experience.
  • Ability to work primarily in a classroom/school setting.
  • Empathy, patience, compassion, and the ability to support children with diverse needs.
  • Experience with children or individuals with special needs and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement daily classroom schedules and individualized programs under supervision.
  • Provide instruction in academics, communication, self-care, and social skills.
  • Collect and track data on student progress to support behavior programs.
  • Use evidence-based behavior support strategies to manage challenging behaviors.
  • Partner with teachers, clinical staff, and families to support individualized treatment plans.
  • Assist students with personal care and hygiene as needed.

Classroom Counselor Full-Time, 40 hours per week Monday-Friday Year Round

As a Classroom Counselor at our May Institute School in Wilmington, MA, you'll be an essential part of our mission to supportstudents ages 3-21 with Autism and Developmental and Cognitive Disabilities in achieving their goals and aspirations. You’ll work directly in the classroom settings using the proven methods of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). You’ll be providing compassionate care, facilitating personalized instruction and assistance, and engaging in life and academic skill-building activities.

What You'll Do
  • Implement dailyclassroom schedulesandindividualized programsunder supervision.
