Job summary

Southwest is seeking a Head Start Classroom Aide to support instruction in a preschool setting, assisting the lead teacher with activities for up to 20 children. The role involves home visits, encouraging parent involvement, and coordinating with staff on enrollment and family needs.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED; a Child Development Associate Credential is preferred. Applicants must pass background checks and screenings.

Purpose

The Head Start Classroom Aide is responsible for the day to day activities necessary for operation of a pre-school type classroom while ensuring program policies and procedures are being met. This position is accountable to the Early Childhood Development Manager.

Job Duties Include: Assist Head Start Teacher in carrying out a program of instruction for a pre-school classroom of up to 20 children, serve as Teacher Assistant in absence of regular Teacher Assistant, make home visits, encourage parent involvement, and work with other staff concerning enrollment and meeting the needs of families.

Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; a Child Development Associate Credential preferred. Experience/training in working with preschool children desired; must be willing to continue education. Must pass physical exam, TB screen, drug screen, and criminal/fingerprint background check.
