Under general direction of the Human Resources Division (HRD) Chief (CEA Level B), the Classification, Data and Compliance Branch Chief , will ensure the Department’s personnel programs follow laws, regulations, policies, and best practices. Provide functional supervision, direction, guidance, and consultation for the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). Act as consultant to managers and supervisors in personnel-related matters. Serve as the Department’s technical expert for personnel matters and handle the most critical, and sensitive human resources matters. The incumbent has continuous and direct contact with the DHCS Executive Management Team where the information sought and advice given is sensitive, critical to the Department’s mission, and oftentimes involve multiple program areas such as civil rights and legal services requiring the highest degree of skill, knowledge, tact, and poise.
This position is subject to the Department's Conflict of Interest Code and filing a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) when assuming office, annually while in office, and upon leaving of fice.
This classification was previously known as the Staff Services Manager III classification and is now referred to as the Manager II classification, effective January 1, 2026.

This position is currently eligible for teleworking up to one day per week and is required to report in person a minimum of four days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’s Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 - 14203.
