Job summary

DMV's Human Resources division seeks a Classification & Compensation Consultant to become the go-to resource on how jobs are structured and how employees are paid across the agency. You will work with managers to shape pay decisions and career paths, contributing to Upshift initiatives and maintaining data integrity in HR systems.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of job analysis and job evaluation principles to determine position classifications.
• Experience developing or revising position descriptions with managers, ensuring accuracy of role title, working title, and FLSA status.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and policies governing classification and compensation and ability to apply them.
• Experience conducting compensation analyses using salary, labor market, and position data for data-based pay recommendations.
• Experience preparing routine and ad hoc reports that present analytical findings for decision-making.
• Experience using spreadsheet software with formulas and lookup functions to analyze data.
• Experience entering, maintaining, and verifying data in HRIS systems.
• Experience advising managers and HR staff on classification and compensation policies and communicating decisions.
• Experience managing a high volume of requests and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
• Experience recommending process improvements based on research and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate positions to ensure correct classification and develop position descriptions with managers.
• administer DMV's compensation program and build data-based salary analyses in Excel for pay recommendations.
• Manage the Compensation mailbox and tracker, handling inquiries and routing requests.
• Use market and internal data to perform compensation analyses and produce routine/ad hoc reports.
• Contribute to compensation initiatives and support Upshift and career pathing development.
