Job summary

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank is seeking a Class B Driver at our San Francisco facility to support deliveries and pickups for partners and pantries in San Francisco and Marin counties. This full-time role requires a valid California Class B license with air brake endorsement, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a commitment to our mission to end hunger.

You will use a tablet for routing, communicate with Dispatch, and assist with daily warehouse duties.

Responsibilities

• Drive Food Bank trucks to make prompt deliveries and pickups for partners and pantries in San Francisco and Marin counties.
• Use issued electronic Tablet for routing and cell phones for Dispatch communication.
• Perform daily warehouse duties including receiving, storage, agency orders, salvage, and produce sorting.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance logs and ensure a clean, organized facility.
• Monitor equipment condition and maintain logs and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain a clean driving record.

Join our friendly, collaborative, and hardworking operations team, reporting to the Transportation Manager.

The Class B Driver will drive Food Bank trucks to make prompt deliveries and pick-ups of donations and complete the related paperwork in a timely fashion and perform daily warehouse duties as assigned.

The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank's mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin counties. We envision a community free of the root causes of hunger, where everyone has access to nutritious food of their choosing and is uplifted by a network of support.

Together with more than 300 community partners, we work to address hunger head-on through a coordinated network of neighborhood food pantries, CalFresh enrollment, home-delivered groceries, and policy and advocacy efforts. We work with our community to provide food for people facing hunger today while working to end the hunger of tomorrow.

This fiscal year, we are serving 36,000 households per week.

Who You Are:

• You are a professional driver in possession of a valid California Class B Drivers' License with air brake endorsement
• You can work and interact well with individuals (staff and volunteers) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in a culturally diverse environment
• You are a good communicator, responding and reporting with dispatch throughout the day

What You Would Be Accountable for:

• The Class B Driver is needed at our San Francisco facility to help provide additional support in food deliveries and pickups to our partners and pantries in San Francisco and Marin counties.

What You Would Be Doing Right Now:

• Use of issued electronic Tablet for routing and cell phones for communicating with Dispatch
• Drive commercial Food Bank vehicles (diesel and electric) to accomplish all donation pick-ups, product deliveries, Emergency Food Box delivery, and food drive barrel delivery/pick-up
• Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route and delivery schedule
• Use material handling equipment (stand up forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) in a safe manner to perform all daily warehouse duties: receiving, storage, agency order pulling, salvage, produce sorting, and receiving
• Maintain vehicle preventative maintenance logs
• Maintain an organized and sanitary facility
• Monitor equipment condition and maintain equipment logs
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
• Ability to maintain a clean driving record with a high level of safety awareness on the roadways

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• 1+ years driving experience in the San Francisco area preferred.
• Previous warehouse experience a plus.
• Must be fully aware and accountable to ALL Federal Motor Carrier and DOT Regulations.

KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Clean driving record. Maintenance of California Commercial Driver's License.
• Employees must attend all company and company-sponsored training sessions and safety meetings, and must satisfactorily complete the Company's Driver Road Test Evaluation

This role is scheduled to work Monday, Tuesday Wednesday, and Friday from 6:30am-3:00pm, and Saturday from 6:00am-2:30pm

SALARY

The position is full-time. The starting salary for this position ranges from $31.24, with exact salary depending on experience.
