Class A Fitter Welder (ASME Pressure Vessel / Boiler Fabrication) – Must-Have Requirements
- 5+ years of fitter/welder experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to pass weld tests:
- 6" Sch 80 6G GTAW (TIG) root/hot pass + SMAW fill/cap
- 3G FCAW 1/2" plate
- Fitter test
- Experience with GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), and FCAW (Flux Core)
- Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding procedures
- Experience fitting, laying out, and assembling pressure and non-pressure components
- Ability to pass X-ray and other non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements
- Proficient with carbon arc gouging and cutting torch
- Strong math skills for layout and fabrication work
Class A Fitter Welder (ASME Pressure Vessel / Boiler Fabrication) – Position Summary
Perform high-level fitting and welding on ASME code pressure vessels and boiler components. Work with a variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless, chrome, and nickel alloys. Ensure all fabrication meets strict ASME, company, and customer quality standards. Support production of waste heat recovery equipment in a heavy fabrication environment.
Class A Fitter Welder (ASME Pressure Vessel / Boiler Fabrication) – Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Layout, cut, fit, and tack pressure and structural components
- Fabricate components including cylinders, nozzles, tubes, tubesheets, headers, and structural parts
- Perform TIG, Stick, and Flux Core welding to specification
- Use leveling and alignment tools to ensure proper fit and orientation
- Read and follow blueprints, weld procedures, and shop drawings
- Perform carbon arc gouging and thermal cutting as needed
- Inspect work to ensure compliance with ASME code and quality standards
- Work with ferrous and non-ferrous materials
- Maintain clean and safe work environment
- Assist with additional shop duties as needed
Class A Fitter Welder (ASME Pressure Vessel / Boiler Fabrication) – Additional Qualifications
- Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) experience is a plus
- Experience with pressure vessels, boilers, or heavy industrial fabrication preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work overtime and meet production deadlines
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills
