Job summary

DFA Milk is hiring a Class A driver in Texas. You will operate straight trucks or trailers, deliver to customers, and maintain safety and DOT compliance. Must have a CDL and good English communication.

Responsibilities include handling loads, logging paperwork, and representing the company professionally with clients. Training sessions are provided, with equal opportunity employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience driving tractor trailer/straight truck/doubles in last 5 years.
• Valid Class A CDL; doubles endorsement may be required; license for at least 3 years.
• Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Proficient math for calculating load size and weight.
• Able to follow directions, be punctual and work with minimal supervision.
• Strong customer service and teamwork.

• Deliver products per route and schedule, including special handling like inside coolers or walk-ins.
• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions.
• Load/unload at stops and possibly stock or order product.
• Maintain vehicle and equipment, and complete daily logs per DOT guidelines.
• Attend driver workshops and training sessions.
• Represent DFA professionally with customers during interactions.

Job description

Our Class A Driver for this position can make up to $27.72 per hour

Operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or double trailer. Deliver products or assets in a safe and timely manner to customers, warehouses, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the supervisor. Demonstrate high standards of customer service. Communicate frequently with peers, supervisors, and others.

Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices

• Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe and timely manner. Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel
• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents, or breakdowns
• Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designated stops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and ordering of product (varies from route to route)
• Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager
• Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle
• Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day. Maintain all log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines
• Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
• Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
• Use company supported applications or systems properly
• Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
• Must meet minimum age requirements
• Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
• Must meet all DOT requirements
• Certification and/or License – valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application
• Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
• Skill in proficient computer usage
• Skill with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements
• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
