Job description

Tired of the long haul? We're hiring a safety-minded Class A driver to join our team and be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and retrieval of heavy equipment to and from customer locations.

About the Role:

This position requires excellent driving skills, a strong understanding of safety regulations, and the ability to operate and secure various types of heavy equipment. The CDL Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of our diverse fleet of heavy equipment to and from customer locations, job sites, and company facilities.

Business Operating Hours/Schedule:Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

In this role you can expect to:

  1. Delivery & Pickup
    1. Drive commercial vehicles, including flatbeds, lowboys, etc., to transport equipment, parts, and/or supplies to and from designated locations.
    1. Securely load, transport, and unload a variety of heavy equipment, including but not limited to excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, compactors, and aerial lifts. Utilize proper tie-down techniques and securement devices to prevent damage during transport.
    2. Work closely with dispatch to ensure the correct items are being delivered to the correctjob sites.
    3. Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally and courteously with customers upon delivery and pickup. Assist with equipment operation instructions and answer basic customer questions.
  1. Safety & Compliance
    1. Adhere to all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and traffic laws while operating commercial vehicles and equipment. Perform pre-and post-trip inspections on vehicles and trailers to ensure they are in safe operating condition. Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns immediately.
    1. Maintain a clean driving record.
    1. Properly secure equipment on trailers using chains, straps, binders, and other appropriate methods to ensure safe transport and prevent shifting during transit.
    1. Reporting any incidents or accidents immediately.
  1. Vehicle Maintenance
    1. Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
    2. Ensure your vehicle is kept clean.
    3. Inspect vehicles before and after each trip to ensure they are in safe operating condition, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
  1. Documentation
    1. Accurately complete all required paperwork, including delivery receipts, logbooks, and pre-and post-trip inspection reports.
    2. Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
    1. Ensure proper signatures and documents are obtained during delivery and pickup.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma, GED, Technical or Trade School
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A required.
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations, safety procedures, and traffic laws.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various types of heavy equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps and GPS navigation systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
