CDL Driver (Hazmat) Cylinder Delivery Driver

Reports To: Operations Manager

Our drivers are responsible for the safe preload and transport of chemicals and/or compressed gases in cargo tank trucks & liquid bulk tankers to and from loading plant to terminal yard. Safe pre and post inspections, yard checks, equipment maintenance and documentation, etc. Other duties may be assigned.

Ability to:
- Lift, carry, and maneuver heavy hoses, cylinders, equipment (often 50-75 lbs. or more) during loading, unloading and maintenance task
- Load and unload cargo tanks, performing appropriate actions in the proper sequence
- Frequently exert forces equivalent to lifting, up to 25 pounds or occasionally 50 pounds
- May sit for long periods of time while driving
- Prepare driver’s logs and other transportation documents
- Work alone most of the normal workday
- Work with delivery deadlines
- Observe and respond promptly to changing conditions, such as traffic, weather, and road conditions
- Visually inspect vehicles, loaded materials and unloading facilities at customer locations
- Read and understand training materials
- Wear required safety equipment
- Provide quick reaction or immediate response to required situations
- Cooperate and get along with co-workers and customer representatives
- Must be adaptable; job duties may change based on evolving products, commercial vehicle units, and overall plant needs
Work Environment:

Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Candidate must reside in the Houston, Texas metro area
- Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
- Ability to operate a manual transmission tractor
- Two years verifiable experience operating a commercial tractor trailer
- Ability to safely lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 150 lbs (typically)
with the use of mechanical equipment (e.g., dollies, hand trucks, or team‑lift assistance)
- Clear FMCSA Clearinghouse and satisfactory MVR & PSP (good driving record)
- Ability to operate commercial vehicles across state lines
- Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screen and physical
- Reliable transportation
- Stable employment history
- Occasional travel to other plants may be required based on business needs
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and an extended workweek—overnight and/or out of town travel may be required
- Must have some mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Must have a professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to use three points of access for getting in and out of the tractor, multiple times a day
- Ability to work well under pressure in a team environment and get along with others
- Strong customer service skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize, multi‑task, manage time, organize, and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment
- Must be adaptable; job duties may change based on evolving products, commercial vehicle units, and overall plant needs
