Job summary

PVS DX, Inc. in Houston, TX seeks an experienced CDL Class A driver to safely preload, transport compressed gases and hazmat to customer sites and loading terminals.

You will perform pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain driver logs, comply with FMCSA and DOT regulations, and uphold safety, reliability, and professional customer service. Overtime and travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CDL Class A with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements required.
  • HazMat/tanker endorsements and clean driving record required.
  • Two years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Safe preload and transport of compressed gases and hazmat to loading plants and terminals.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and keep logs/dockets up to date.
  • Comply with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety policies; observe traffic and weather conditions.

Job description

PVS DX, Inc, is a nationwide manufacturer and distributor of compressed gases and other water treatment chemicals. We are a safety conscious employer: the safety, security and welfare of fellow workers, the community and the environment are our #1 priority.

Our drivers are responsible for the safe preload and transport of chemicals and/or compressed gases in cargo tank trucks & liquid bulk tankers to and from loading plant to terminal yard. Safe pre and post inspections, yard checks, equipment maintenance and documentation, etc. Other duties may be assigned.

Ability to:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy hoses, cylinders, equipment (often 50-75 lbs. or more) during loading, unloading and maintenance task
  • Unloads cargo tanks, performing appropriate actions in the proper sequence
  • Frequently exerts forces equivalent to lifting, up to 25 pounds or occasionally 50 pounds
  • May sit for long periods of time while driving
  • Prepares driver’s logs and other transportation documents
  • Works alone most of the normal workday
  • Works with delivery deadlines
  • Observes and responds promptly to changing conditions, such as traffic, weather, and road conditions
  • Visually inspects vehicles, loaded materials and unloading facilities at customer locations
  • Read and understand training materials

Required education and experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Candidate must reside in the Houston, Texas metro area
  • Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements Required
  • Ability to Operate a Manual Transmission Tractor Required
  • Two years’ verifiable experience operating a Commercial Tractor Trailer Required
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy hoses, cylinders, equipment (often 50-75 lbs. or more) during loading, unloading and maintenance task Required
  • Clear FMCSA Clearinghouse and satisfactory MVR & PSP (Good Driving Record) Required
  • Ability to operate commercial vehicles across state lines Required
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical Required
  • Reliable transportation Required
  • Stable employment history Required
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and an extended workweek-overnight and/or out of town travel may be required
  • Must have some mechanical and electrical aptitude

  • Must be able to use three points of access getting in and out of the tractor, multiple times a day
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a team environment and get along with others

  • Must be adaptable; job duties may change based on evolving products, commercial vehicle units, and overall plant needs
