Job summary

Werner Enterprises is seeking an experienced claims leader to manage and optimize the claims operation from intake to resolution. The role emphasizes team leadership, process improvements, and collaboration with legal and investigators to settle complex claims.

The ideal candidate will oversee budgeting, dashboards, and risk analyses while mentoring a staff of claims professionals to enhance productivity and accuracy across all files.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AA degree or college coursework preferred.
• Two-three years claims experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of Google and Google Sheets.
• Maintain any credentials required to perform functions.

Responsibilities

• Manage, review, and resolve claims, including action decisions and negotiations.
• Oversee administrative, financial, accounting, and reporting for claims.
• Lead staff hiring, oversight, coaching, and training.
• Provide settlements support and litigation collaboration.
• Analyze trends and generate risk and forecast reports.
• Monitor quality control and ensure accuracy across claims.
• Direct complex/ high-exposure files and overall productivity.

Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Manages, reviews, and resolves claims, including determining course of action, developing arguments and addressing claimants' rebuttals, conducting preliminary negotiations, and preparing and issuing notices to claimants and other third-parties.

Manages administrative, financial, accounting, and reporting functions for claims.

Assists in overall case resolution strategies, settlements, and litigation support.

Authorizes appropriate payment or refers claims to investigators for further review.

Analyzes and identifies trends and provides reports as necessary.

Provides input for forecasting and planning activities.

Generates risk analysis reports for management.

Monitors and participates in quality control and reviews.

Manages and monitors all high-exposure and complex files.

Oversees operational management of the Claims Department, including overall productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.

Provides expertise or general claims support to teams in reviewing, researching, investigating, negotiating, processing, and adjusting claims.

Directs claims staff hiring, oversight, coaching, and training.

Management of BI claims, including a litigation management along with experience in settlement negotiations.

Individual should have claims handling background along with leadership/supervisor experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school Graduate or equivalent required.
• AA degree or some college preferred.
• Two-Three years claims experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of Google, Google Sheets- overall systems knowledge.
• Maintain any credentials required to perform functions.
