Job summary

AIG in Charleston, WV is seeking a Claims Specialist I to manage auto and general liability claims under supervision. Travel up to 25% is expected; relocation is not provided.

You will support coverage analysis, negotiate resolutions, and coordinate with adjusters and vendors to ensure cost-effective outcomes. Ideal candidates bring 2+ years of claims experience, licenses, and strong decision-making and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of claims handling experience.
• Experience with bodily injury and property damage evaluation preferred.
• Strong decision-making ability and negotiation skills.
• Licenses for claim adjusters required.
• Designations such as AIC or AINS encouraged.
• College degree preferred.
• Remote work potential may be available.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and process 3rd party property damage claims; gather information to determine exposure.
• Identify coverage issues; prepare coverage letters with supervisory review and analysis; coordinate with coverage counsel when needed.
• Assess liability and resolve claims within established evaluation; maintain diaries and document files with clear analysis.
• Coordinate vendor referrals for investigation and/or litigation management; manage reserves.
• Attend arbitrations, mediations, settlements and trials.
• Maintain diaries and complete tasks within required timeframes per department guidelines.
