SALARY

$31.393 - $49.662

POSITION SUMMARY

Reviews, investigates, processes, and settles bodily injury, property damage, and subrogation claims filed against and on behalf of the Authority.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Reviews assigned bodily injury and property damage claims to extract information and conduct comprehensive investigations, including interviewing witnesses and claimants, reviewing police and medical records, inspecting accident scenes, and visiting relevant locations.
  2. Analyzes and evaluates the veracity of statements and evidence related to causation, nature, and effects of claims.
  3. Determines the liability exposure of the Authority and its employees.
  4. Reviews medical records to assess treatments and subrogation amounts for injured employees.
  5. Assists attorneys with unsettled suits and prepares detailed reports for claim settlements.
  6. Performs duties of related roles as needed and other assigned duties.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficiency in identifying CTA liability and assessing property damage and injury claims.
  • Experience in conducting interviews, taking reports, and handling claims involving catastrophic loss.
  • Competence in data collection, organization, and recording.
  • College degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Experience in processing, investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling vehicle and property damage claims.
  • Experience negotiating settlements with attorneys and claimants.
  • Experience conducting confidential investigations in catastrophic loss cases.
  • Ability to interpret medical records and data in injury claims.
  • On call 24/7 availability.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of evidence needed for property damage and injury claim settlements.
  • Knowledge of the Chicago area for geographic identification.
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for work purposes.
  • Knowledge of bus and automobile components.
  • Clear and logical written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adequate temperament for maintaining good relations with personnel and outside contacts.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Usual office environment with field work exposure to weather conditions.
  • On call 24/7.
