POSITION SUMMARY
Reviews, investigates, processes, and settles bodily injury, property damage, and subrogation claims filed against and on behalf of the Authority.
Qualifications
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews assigned bodily injury and property damage claims to extract information and conduct comprehensive investigations. Conducts investigations by interviewing and/or securing sworn statements of CTA employees, witnesses, and claimants; corresponding with witnesses and claimants; reviewing police and other pertinent records; inspecting accident scenes and vehicles involved; and visiting locations outside of the office to gather information.
- Analyzes and evaluates the veracity of statements made by witnesses, claimants, and Authority employees, including bargaining unit employees, and assesses evidence related to causation, nature, and effect of injuries and damages.
- Determines the liability exposure of the Authority and its employees.
- May review medical records to determine the nature and extent of treatments and the value of subrogation claims.
- Evaluates the veracity of statements and evidence related to property damage claims under applicable laws.
- Assists attorneys with unsettled suits.
- Prepares detailed reports on investigations, analysis, and settlement of claims.
- May perform duties of Claim/Accident Clerk, Claim/Law Coordinator, and Claim Representative (Property Damage).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Proficiency in identifying CTA liability and assessing property damage and injury claims.
- Experience in conducting interviews, taking reports, and handling claims involving catastrophic loss, injuries, and damages.
- Competence in data collection, organization, and recording.
- College degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Experience in processing, investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling vehicle and property damage claims, including personal injury claims.
- Experience negotiating settlements with attorneys and claimants.
- Experience conducting confidential investigations in catastrophic loss cases.
- Ability to interpret medical records and reports.
- On-call 24/7 availability.
