Description

SALARY

$31.393 - $49.662

POSITION SUMMARY

Reviews, investigates, processes, and settles bodily injury, property damage, and subrogation claims filed against and on behalf of the Authority.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Reviews assigned bodily injury and property damage claims, conducts investigations by interviewing witnesses, claimants, and CTA employees, reviews police and medical records, inspects accident scenes, and visits relevant locations to gather information.
  2. Evaluates the credibility of statements and evidence related to claims, including causation and damage assessments.
  3. Determines the liability exposure of the Authority and its employees.
  4. Reviews medical records to assess medical treatments and subrogation amounts.
  5. Analyzes evidence for property damage claims under comparative negligence laws.
  6. Assists attorneys with unsettled lawsuits.
  7. Prepares detailed reports on investigations, analysis, and settlement recommendations.
  8. Performs duties of related roles such as Claim/Accident Clerk, Claim/Law Coordinator, and Claim Property Damage Representative as needed.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficiency in assessing CTA liability and property/personal injury claims.
  • Experience in conducting interviews, taking reports, and handling claims involving catastrophic losses.
  • Competence in data collection, organization, and recording.
  • College degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Experience in processing and negotiating vehicle, property damage, and personal injury claims.
  • Experience negotiating settlements with attorneys and claimants.
  • Experience in conducting confidential investigations in catastrophic loss cases.
  • Ability to interpret medical records and data.
  • On-call availability 24/7.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of evidence required for claims settlement.
  • Knowledge of the Chicago metropolitan area for location identification.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Knowledge of major bus and automobile components.
  • Clear and logical communication skills.
  • A temperament conducive to amiable relations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Standard office environment.
  • On-call 24/7.
  • Exposure to weather during fieldwork.
