Job summary

Starr Insurance Companies is seeking an experienced Construction Defect Claims Manager to oversee nationwide claims. The role requires prompt coverage analysis, liability determinations, and diligent investigation of damages, with reserves evaluated accordingly.

The position involves attending mediations, settlement conferences, and potentially trials, while coordinating with profit center leaders, underwriters, actuaries, and reinsurers on trends and individual claims.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least 7 years of experience handling Construction Defect claims.
  • Superior negotiation and litigation management skills.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must have a proactive approach.
  • Travel may be required and licenses obtained where needed.

Responsibilities

  • Handle construction defect claims nationwide involving Starr insureds.
  • Perform prompt coverage analysis, determine liability and defenses, investigate damages, and evaluate reserves.
  • Attend virtual and in-person mediations and settlement conferences to negotiate settlements; may attend trials.
  • Collaborate with profit center leaders, underwriters, actuaries, and reinsurers on trends and developments for individual claims.
