Job summary

Acuity Insurance is seeking a Claims Intern to promptly investigate assigned claims to determine specifics surrounding a loss and provide superior customer service to all involved parties. You will obtain information via phone, fax, and email from agents, doctors, attorneys, and other external parties, and determine coverage, liability, and reserves.

Current college student in a four-year program, with entry-level customer service experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in college pursuing a four-year degree.
• Entry level; customer service experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.

Responsibilities

• Proactively investigate, evaluate and resolve assigned auto physical damage and basic liability losses.
• Demonstrate superior communication and customer service skills in all aspects of the position.
• Accurately evaluate policy coverage by applying claims facts to the policy terms.
• Identify potentially fraudulent claims and refer suspect claims to the SIU.
• Maintain file documentation and proper management of pending claims.
• Learn basic legal concepts relevant to jurisdictions and conduct independent research.
