Job summary

Old Republic is seeking a Claims Accountant/Analyst to handle claim-related accounting, including general ledger entries, reporting for loss rate assessments, and reserve adequacy analyses. The role supports automated claim systems and various financial projects across the organization.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in business/accounting/finance or 3+ years' experience, with strong Excel skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, actuarial science or related field, or minimum three years' experience.
• Proven problem solving skills and ability to drive results.
• Ability to collaborate across all levels and cross-functionally.
• Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily and monthly claim-related accounting incl. loss provision accruals, payments, reconciliations.
• Maintain internet-based claims system in coordination with Corporate Legal and IS.
• Prepare quarterly and annual statutory, GAAP, and management reports.
• Develop specialized claim reports as needed.
• Assist in evaluating loss reserve adequacy with loss models and analyses.
• Analyze loss experience and establish reserve rates by company/state/product.
• Collaborate with IS on system/report modifications.
• Analyze claim activity to verify data and identify trends.
• Compile loss data for state data calls and government requirements.
• Support SOX and external audit requests.
• Assist with company benefits process.
• Participate in other accounting, budgeting and analysis projects.
