Job summary

OpenTrain AI, Inc. seeks experienced civil/structural professionals for a part-time contractor role focused on BIM authoring and AI-assisted evaluation of engineering designs.

You will work with Revit, ArchiCAD, or BlenderBIM on complex drawing sets, ensure code compliance, and validate IFC exports for project coordination. Ideal candidates have 5+ years post-degree experience, a relevant engineering or architecture degree, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or architecture required.
• At least five years post-degree drawing set authoring and model development experience.
• BIM tools daily, expert-level authoring with Revit, ArchiCAD, or BlenderBIM.
• Experience exporting and validating IFC files with checks for geometry and mapping.
• Working knowledge of Eurocode, ACI, ASCE, IS, or BS standards.
• PE/CE/Chartered status or scripting experience is a plus.

Job description

The Work

You will provide expert engineering input for training and evaluating AI-powered engineering systems. The work combines hands-on BIM model authoring with technical judgment about constructability, interoperability, workflow usability, and design quality.

You will work with civil and structural drawing sets, BIM models, IFC files, design coordination requirements, and applicable engineering codes. You will also explain technical decisions and design reasoning clearly so your feedback can improve AI engineering systems.

• Create, review, and refine plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and other detailed civil and structural drawing sets.
• Author and manage BIM models for complex or multi-building projects using Revit, ArchiCAD, or BlenderBIM.
• Apply relevant code families, including Eurocode, ACI, ASCE, IS, and BS, when developing and reviewing designs.
• Export and validate IFC 2x3 or IFC4 files, including geometry, classification, and mapping integrity checks.
• Evaluate project requirements, identify constructability concerns, and recommend practical improvements.
• Assess BIM tools and data workflows, then provide clear feedback on technical decisions and design quality.

What It Pays And Takes

This is a part-time contractor role for experienced civil, structural, or architectural professionals.

• Pay: $30 to $50 per hour.
• Hours: At least 20 hours per week.
• Location: remote, open to applicants in India and the United States.
• Language: Fluent written and spoken English.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or architecture required; a master's degree is preferred.
• Experience: At least five years of post-degree experience authoring complete drawing sets and leading model development, beyond markup or review work.
• BIM experience: At least three years of daily, expert-level authoring with Revit, ArchiCAD, or BlenderBIM.
• Required technical background: IFC export and validation, multidisciplinary coordination, and complex or multi-building projects.
• Standards: Working knowledge of Eurocode, ACI, ASCE, IS, or BS standards.
• Helpful experience: PE, CEng, or Chartered status; ifcopenshell or Python scripting; Navisworks or Solibri clash detection; ETABS, SAP2000, Robot, or Tekla; custom BIM family development; or AI data annotation.
