Title: Senior Structural Designer II – Power Plant / Heavy Industrial

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Designer II to support major heavy industrial and power plant design projects. The ideal candidate will have 20+ years of structural design experience, with a strong background in power generation, industrial facilities, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and/or ductwork.
This position will collaborate with engineering teams, clients, contractors, vendors, and plant personnel to develop accurate, high-quality design deliverables and address field and constructability requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce 2D drawings and 3D models for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and/or ductwork.
- Develop structural layouts, conceptual designs, and detailed design drawings.
- Review vendor shop and fabrication drawings for accuracy and design compliance.
- Prepare material takeoffs and assist with project cost estimates.
- Coordinate structural design activities with other engineering disciplines, clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Conduct site walk-downs and field verifications to confirm existing conditions.
- Identify and resolve constructability issues during design and field activities.
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate drawing notes.
- Support design development from conceptual stages through detailed design.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Develop strong working relationships with plant staff, engineering personnel, contractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
- 20+ years of structural design experience in heavy industrial, power plant, or similar environments.
- Strong experience with structural steel and/or reinforced concrete design and detailing.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience interpreting engineering specifications, vendor drawings, and field conditions.
- Strong understanding of structural design and drafting standards.
- Ability to perform field/site walk-downs and verify existing conditions.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to meet applicable site safety and PPE requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3D structural modeling experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Bentley/Microsoft structural software.
- Experience with Advance Steel or similar structural modeling/detailing software.
- Steel and/or concrete detailing experience.
- Experience supporting power generation or heavy industrial projects.
- Experience coordinating structural designs with engineering, construction, and plant operations teams.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned structural designer with extensive power plant or heavy industrial experience who can independently develop quality design deliverables, interpret field conditions, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and provide practical constructability solutions.
