Structural Engineer 2
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Structural Engineer 2 with 5-7 years of heavy industrial/power plant experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering. The ideal candidate will provide structural engineering services, field support, and technical expertise for various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide structural engineering services and field support.
- Prepare designs, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Conduct site walk-downs of construction sites.
- Develop cost estimates and material takeoffs.
- Contribute to project scheduling and staffing input.
- Produce and review structural steel design calculations and drawings.
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles and industry methodologies.
- Significant experience in structural steel connection design.
- Proficiency with structural codes and standards.
- Extensive knowledge of heavy industrial structures and components.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in STAAD PRO, MathCAD, and other structural computer programs.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple small to mid-sized, single or multi-discipline projects.
- Experience performing structural inspections and writing technical reports.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering teams, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering (PE) registration (a plus, but not required).
- Working knowledge of ANSYS.
- Experience in transmission structure design (preferred but not required).
