Job summary

Odyssey Space Research, L.L.C. in Houston seeks a Director of Business Development to own growth in Civil Space and related commercial markets. This individual contributor will build relationships, shape win strategies, and oversee proposals from RFP through submission.

You will lead capture, coordinate with engineering, and report to the Chief Growth Officer, guiding win themes and teaming arrangements with primes and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 8+ years in government or space business development/capture.
• Experience leading proposals from RFP to submission.
• Knowledge of FAR and federal acquisition processes.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.
• On-site in Houston, TX with ~25% travel.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage a qualified pipeline across NASA and civil agencies, and related commercial space companies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with government program offices, contracting officers, commercial space leaders, and primes.
• Identify and position Odyssey on opportunities early, including recompetes, new starts, SBIR/STTR, and partnerships.
• Shape requirements through customer engagement, RFI responses, and industry days.
• Lead bid/no-bid evaluations and present opportunity qualification to leadership.
• Track market trends, procurement forecasts, and competitor activity across civil and commercial space sectors.
• Attend conferences and industry events to promote Odyssey and identify opportunities.
• Lead capture on all qualified Civil Space opportunities and develop win strategies.
