Job summary

The Office of the Attorney General of Georgia is seeking an Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Section of the General Litigation Division. The attorney will represent state officers and agencies in federal lawsuits seeking injunctive relief and damages, with travel required.

Requirements include a law degree from an accredited school and Georgia Bar admission; 1–3 years of litigation experience preferred. The position is full-time and located in Georgia.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school.
• Georgia Bar membership.
• 1-3 years of litigation experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Litigates cases in federal courts, arguing motions and appeals.
• Researches and prepares pleadings, motions and briefs.
• Works with expert witnesses.
• Prepares discovery requests and responses.
• Provides legal advice and/or representation to clients/agencies; drafts memoranda of advice.
• Conducts legal research on pertinent issues and tracks developments.
• Participates in multistate working groups.
• Reviews sign-on opportunities for letters, comments and briefs.
• Travels as required by the position.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
