Jobot is seeking a seasoned Civil Rights Defense Litigation Attorney in a hybrid remote capacity in California to join our well-known firm. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate, be licensed to practice in the state, and bring 5+ years of civil rights litigation experience with a proven track record in settlements and motions.

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in the practicing state (California).
• Minimum 5 years of civil rights litigation experience with a proven track record.
• Strong mediation and negotiation skills.
• In-depth knowledge of civil rights laws, procedures, and evidentiary rules.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex legal concepts clearly.
• Professionalism and ethics; ability to work in a team and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal defense representation to clients alleging civil rights violations, including discrimination.
• Conduct comprehensive legal defense research and analysis to support case development and litigation strategy.
• Draft, review, and file legal documents including complaints, motions, briefs, and appeals.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients in mediation and other dispute resolution proceedings.
• Advocate for clients in court proceedings, presenting compelling arguments and evidence.
• Stay updated on developments in civil rights law and apply this knowledge to cases.
• Collaborate with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to manage cases efficiently.
• Provide legal advice and guidance to clients about rights and options.
• Participate in community outreach and education activities on civil rights issues.

Job Details

1. Provide legal defense representation to clients alleging violations of their civil rights, including discrimination based on race, sex, religion, age, disability, and other protected characteristics.
2. Conduct comprehensive legal defense research and analysis to support case development and litigation strategy.
3. Draft, review, and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, briefs, and appeals.
4. Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients in mediation and other dispute resolution proceedings.
5. Advocate for clients in court proceedings, presenting compelling arguments and evidence to support their cases.
6. Stay updated on developments in civil rights law and related areas, and apply this knowledge to the benefit of clients.
7. Collaborate with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure the efficient and effective handling of cases.

Qualifications

1. Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
2. Must have passed the Bar Examination in the state of practice.
3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil rights litigation, with a strong record of successful outcomes.
4. Extensive experience in mediation, with excellent negotiation skills.
5. In-depth knowledge of federal and state civil rights laws, court procedures, and rules of evidence.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop effective litigation strategies.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal concepts in a clear and persuasive manner.
8. High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
9. Ability to work well in a team and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
