Job summary

Planted Solar is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to own civil design across distributed generation to utility-scale solar projects. You will balance energy production, schedule, and costs while interfacing with customers, EORs, and permitting agencies to meet civil requirements.

The role offers autonomy, collaboration with engineering and business teams, and the opportunity to advance solar deployment at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• Experience with site civil design in solar projects.
• Ability to read civil drawings, topographic maps, and grading plans.
• Experience with geotechnical analysis, DEMs, GIS, mapping, and coordinate frames.
• Experience estimating civil construction costs (roads, fencing, grading, trenching).
• Strong communication and project-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and validate site civil designs for constructibility and compatibility with Planted Solar systems.
• Analyze site topography to identify issues and earthwork needs.
• Provide design input for access roads, pathways, and material staging areas.
• Travel to project sites for constructability assessments.
• Coordinate with surveying/subcontractors delivering topographic surveys and DEMs.
• Liaise with customers, engineering firms, and permitting authorities on stormwater and civil codes.
• Advise on vegetation, pre-construction clearing, and site stabilization.
• Collaborate with engineering teammates on holistic site designs.
• Champion improvements to the Planted system through feedback on hardware and software.
• Manage time efficiently across multiple projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and codes.
