Job summary

Branch Builds, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to oversee all engineering and technical aspects of projects with a focus on organizing and planning for accuracy and quality.

You will report to the Project Manager and support safety, documentation, plans and specifications, and scheduling. The role requires reviewing contract documents, ensuring proper permits, maintaining logs, and coordinating with the PM on budgets, changes, and invoicing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Master’s Degree in engineering/Construction and two years of experience in heavy civil projects (NCDOT/large site).
• Budgets/Cost Control; Organizational Savvy; Establishing Relationships; Working with Financial Information.

Responsibilities

• Measure, report and forecast accurate cost and revenue dollars and quantities.
• Fully review contract documents, drawings and specifications.
• Assist PM in defining project budget and cost codes.
• Prepare Initial Budget Adjustments for PM review.
• Ensure the acquisition of permits as required.
• Maintain and update RFI Log, Change Order Log, and Submittal Log.
• Support quality control with approved materials.
• Draft and submit Change Orders per PM approval.
• Draft and submit RFIs per PM approval.
• First-level approval of subcontractor invoices for PM final approval.
• Review and submit end of month billings.
• Develop and communicate an effective plan with the superintendent.
• Monitor work to ensure means and methods are followed.
• Maintain and update project schedule for PM review.
• Promote Branch Safety Culture.
• Pre-punch list walk-through with PM and Superintendent.
• Enforce contract close-out timeline with Subcontractors.
• Review cost data for accuracy and assist PM with projection updates.
