Job description

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III for our Renewable Energy Group located in our Richmond, VA office. Projects in this group focus on land development for utility-scale wind and solar farm projects across the country. Typical project scopes include road design, crane path design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, mass grading, erosion and sediment control design, and field reconnaissance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Design portions of projects using relevant office software, modeling, and AutoCAD Civil 3D technology.
  2. Perform calculations using engineering formulas and skills, utilizing computers to solve problems.
  3. Prepare reports with text and exhibits.
  4. Create specifications through research and manufacturing catalogs for materials, installation, inspection, and payment.
  5. Develop design details and plan sets.
  6. Conduct research and write objective summary reports for project work or inspections.
  7. Assist in preparing engineering and construction cost estimates.
  8. Perform field observations, inspections, and data collection as directed.
  9. Communicate with clients and internal teams as directed by senior staff.
Skills and Requirements
  1. Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  2. Ideally, 2+ years of hydrologic and hydraulic experience.
  3. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  4. CFM certification.
  5. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  6. Technical writing skills.
  7. Legal eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
