Job summary

STV Incorporated in Hartford CT is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer or Project Manager to join the Transportation group. The role focuses on transportation infrastructure projects and requires strong OpenRoads proficiency.

You will mentor junior engineers, work with a multidisciplinary team, and prepare drawings, plans, and specs for roadway, highway, and transit projects. A PE license is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads.
  • At least 4 years in transportation engineering, focusing on roadway design and geometric design.
  • Familiar with AASHTO, CTDOT standards.
  • PE license strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize OpenRoads to develop 3D models, alignments, profiles, corridors, cross-sections, and pipe networks.
  • Mentor junior engineers in OpenRoads usage.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to integrate design elements into project plans.
  • Prepare drawings, plans, and specifications for roadway, highway, and transit projects.
  • Perform design reviews, constructability assessments, and quality control checks.

Job description

STV currently has openings for a Civil Project Engineer or Project Manager in the Transportation group in Hartford CT. STV is seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Project Engineer or Project Manager to join our Connecticut team, specializing in transportation infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in Bentley's OpenRoads software. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of roadway, highway, and transit projects, contributing to innovative design solutions that meet the highest quality standards, budget constraints, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize Bentley’s OpenRoads software to develop and refine 3D models, alignments, profiles, corridors, cross-sections, grading and pipe networks for transportation projects.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers in the effective use of OpenRoads, offering guidance and support to build their technical skills.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to integrate design elements into comprehensive project plans.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, plans, and technical specifications for roadway, highway, and transit infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct thorough design reviews, constructability assessments, and quality control checks to ensure designs align with project objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project reports, presentations, and client communications to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Stay current with industry trends, software advancements, and best practices related to OpenRoads, applying new knowledge to enhance project outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Bentley’s OpenRoads software.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation engineering, with a strong focus on roadway design, alignment optimization, and geometric design.
  • Familiarity with design standards and guidelines, including AASHTO, FTA, FHWA, and CTDOT.
  • Experience with drainage design, stormwater permits and environmental compliance.
  • Strong technical skills in MicroStation, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proven teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
  • A PE license is strongly preferred.

Compensation Range: $130,962.60 - $149,671.54
