Confidential Employer, a respected civil litigation and general practice law firm, seeks an attorney for a full-time, on-site role in Modesto, CA. You will handle diverse civil matters, from pre-suit to trial, including law and motion, depositions, and discovery.

The ideal candidate has a JD and active California Bar membership, 3+ years of civil litigation experience, and strong research, writing, and communication skills. Hybrid flexibility may be available after ~6 months for the right fit.

Qualifications

• JD and active membership in the California State Bar
• 3+ years of civil litigation experience, incl. law & motion, depositions, discovery
• Ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Detail-oriented and highly organized with deadlines
• Solo practice backgrounds with E&O insurance accepted
• Familiarity with legal research/document management software

Responsibilities

• Represent clients across all phases of civil litigation from pre-suit through trial
• Conduct legal research on a wide range of civil matters
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, contracts, discovery responses, and other documents
• Appear in state and federal court on behalf of clients
• Take and defend depositions with preparation
• Collaborate with paralegals and attorneys to manage active caseloads
• Assist with trial prep including witness prep and exhibits
• Engage in mediation/arbitration when appropriate

LOCATION:

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Modesto, CA. We ask that new attorneys be present in-office as they settle in and get comfortable with our practice. After approximately six months, hybrid flexibility may be available for the right fit.

NOTE:

Candidates must be an active member of the California State Bar and have hands-on civil litigation experience, including law and motion, depositions, and discovery. Solo practitioners are welcome to apply provided they have maintained Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance coverage.

• Appear in state and federal court proceedings on behalf of clients
• Take and defend depositions with confidence and preparation
• Collaborate with paralegals and attorney colleagues to manage active caseloads effectively
• Assist with trial preparation, including witness prep, exhibit organization, and strategy development
• Engage in mediation and arbitration proceedings when appropriate for client resolution

QUALIFICATIONS

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in the California State Bar
• 3+ years of civil litigation experience, including law and motion, depositions, and discovery
• Ability to handle and manage multiple active matters simultaneously
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities
• Detail-oriented and highly organized with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Solo practice backgrounds considered with documented E&O insurance coverage
• Familiarity with legal research and document management software
