Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Salt Lake City seeks a Specialist - Systems Engineer (Civil Infrastructure) to design, integrate, deploy, and sustain communication systems at military installations. The role bridges civil engineering, site development, and RF system deployment with multidisciplinary teams.

You will translate requirements into infrastructure solutions, review design packages, and coordinate with RF, electrical, and construction teams to ensure DoD standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related STEM field; 4+ years of related experience, or graduate degree with 2+ years; or 8+ years of experience without a degree.
• Experience with military installation projects or DoD construction processes is preferred.
• Ability to interpret civil, structural, electrical and communications drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a systems engineering contributor for communication-system installations at U.S. military bases and other sites.
• Translate system, RF, facility, and site requirements into infrastructure and installation solutions.
• Assess site adaptation considerations including grading, foundations, utilities, grounding, and routing.
• Develop and review technical documentation such as requirements, surveys, design packages, drawings, specs, submittals, installation plans, test plans, and verification records.
• Coordinate with RF, network, mechanical, electrical, facilities, security, construction, and subcontractor teams to resolve site-integration issues.
• Support design reviews, field assessments, installation readiness reviews, construction oversight, system integration, verification, and customer acceptance activities.
• Manage technical risks, schedule dependencies, configuration changes, and requirements traceability for site infrastructure and deployment.
• Communicate technical status and risks clearly to leadership, customers, and partners.
• Review contractor deliverables, coordinate inspections, and verify DoD building criteria compliance.
